Kapil Dev advises Yuvraj to take care of his health first ? Cricket News Update

Legendary India all-rounder and the 1983 world cup winning captain, Kapil Dev, on Friday advised the comeback man Yuvraj Singh to take care of his health first and then focus on his game.

Yuvraj Singh, playing his first Test since recovering from the lung cancer, which was diagnosed later last year, played a fluent knock of 74 runs, sharing a key 130-run stand with double centurion Cheteshwar Pujara for the fifth wicket, to provide some stability to India?s innings after losing four quick wickets ? of Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Yuvraj?s impressive 74-run knock was preceded by a double century in a Ranji match against Central Zone, and a half-century and a five-wicket haul against the tourists in the second practice match, where he turned out for Mumbai A.

However, Kapil felt that the talented all-rounder should primarily focus on his health. "He is one of the finest cricketers and he has a long way to go but he must look after his health first and then he can go on playing," Kapil said on the sidelines of the 'HT Leadership Summit'.

Yuvraj Singh was last year diagnosed with a rare germ cell cancer. He underwent chemotherapy for the cancerous tumour in the United States of America earlier this year and returned home in April, after successfully battling the rare form of germ-cell cancer.

The veteran Punjab all-rounder, who was declared Player of the Tournament for his impressive performances in the 2011 Cricket World Cup at home, made a startling return to the competitive cricket with the ICC World T20 Championship in Sri Lanka last month. The ongoing first Test against England in Ahmedabad is veteran Southpaw?s first five-day game since recovering from the disease.

Another former captain of India Ajay Jadeja also lauded Yuvraj?s courage to fight back cancer and the eagerness to get back to all the three forms of the game. Asked if the left-hander can sustain this kind of form for long, Jadeja remained noncommittal.

"Cricket is very simple... you play till you can sustain. You play as long as you are good enough and Yuvraj himself will say whether he is good enough to sustain for whatever number of years,? said the 41-year-old former Indian cricketer.
